Love the skin you're in..

Okay, students, another fact about your wonderful body. Today, let's talk about your skin. Think about all it does for you without asking much in return. It "provides protection for underlying tissues, provides mechanical strength and flexibility, provides protection from UV radiation, prevents fluid loss, produces vitamin D3, and resists damage from chemicals, pathogens, and abrasion."

Also, the water content of your skin helps maintain its flexibility. Here's a quick test to see if you're dehydrated: pinch the skin on the back of your hand. If it stays peaked, you need water. If it flatens out, your skin is amply hydrated.

Your skin is your first line of defense--it protects you from many things, keeps your fluids in your body, AND protects your organs underneath it. We also ask it to stretch with every pregnancy, weight gain/loss/gain/loss. Oh, and if that is not enough for you, it repairs itself.

Today after your shower, give your skin a little love. Find a nice, healthy lotion and slather it on. After that, drink some water.

Want to go one step further? Use only phthalate-free cosmetics. For more reading on that, go to: www.nottoopretty.org or watch the documentary, "America the Beautiful" (available on netflix). Your skin will love you for it!

  1. I have never heard the term phthalate-free, I will look into it but if it means I have to give up my favor mascara you can forget it.

And thanks for the reminder to use lotion, I forget all the time but I really should.
