No, Ann, I haven't forgotten to take my daily dose....I've just forgotten to write about it!
So, what can I say? What have I been up to other than school, life, family, friends? I have become addicted to green smoothies. ADDICTED I tell you. So I do that now daily for myself.
Other than that, I've been concentrating on cranking out my Anatomy & Physiology so that I can take my final and be done with it already. My goal is to finish in three weeks so I'm working hard. Add to that some other classes (had one final today) and I'm focused with a capital F. This is all new, you know. Normally, I procrastinate. Not anymore. I'm all about just getting things done and over with.
So, in the spirit of A&P, I'm going to give you some facts about your amazing body this next week. Here's your first fact:
Oh, but first you need the definition of homeostasis: "the existence of a stable internal environment. Maintaining homeostasis is absolutely vital to an organism's survival."
Now, think of what happens when you sweat. "This increases losses of both water and salts. Other systems must then compensate for these losses and reestablish an equilibrium state for water and salts. Any adjustment made by one physiological system have direct and indirect effects on a variety of other systems. The maintenance of homeostasis is like a jubbling act that keeps lots of ball in the air."
Consider that for a moment. The simple act of sweating has to have your body reconfiguring things all without you even thinking about it. The body is an amazing thing.
Do something special for your body today! Show it some love!
