Did you know that after you croak and someone (a medical professional) checks out your bones, he/she can tell what kind of shape you were in?
In an individual that exercises and works out, the bones have more markings and become thicker and stronger. The markings are where tendons attached when muscles are worked more and built up. Also, the bone is heavier because more mineral crystals are attracted to the area and deposit on the bone and make more bone. We can see how this would benefit us in our later years--falling down and breaking a hip doesn't seem so fun, does it?
In a couch potato, the breakdown of bone would be more rapid and thus, the doctor examining those bones would note that they were light, thin and brittle. I don't want to be brittle.
Do something great for your bones today and lift some weights.
